mccoy cares blog oct21City of Lake Mary, You’ve Been Pumpkin’d

For the second year, McCoy was presenting sponsor of City of Lake Mary Parks and Recreation Department’s “You’ve Been Pumpkin’d.” First, residents registered online to have their yards “pumpkin’d” with goodies and festive décor. Then, Lake Mary Branch team members selected a winner each week in October in a random drawing on McCoy’s Facebook. This safe, family friendly event brings the community together, and we're proud to have been part of the fun.

Florida Municipal Power Agency, Health Fair

On Oct. 6, the Marketing Team attended the Florida Municipal Power Agency’s annual employee Health Fair. McCoy’s booth featured a disc drop game and allowed us to engage with FMPA employees about various products and services.

Southeastern Food Bank, Fundraiser Dinner

McCoy team members attended Southeastern Food Bank's annual fundraiser dinner on Oct. 8. This followed a successful Food For Families Food Drive event for the organization at the Ocoee Branch. Southeastern Food Bank’s mission is to provide food to economically challenged groups and individuals in the community. McCoy was able to further support this mission as a table sponsor for the fundraiser dinner.

Apopka COC, Business Expo

On Oct. 14, the Marketing Team attended the Apopka Area Business Expo & Career Event at the Apopka Airport Hangars. Being a vendor provided an opportunity to network with local business owners and fellow chamber members.

Project Scholars, Pig on the Pond Community Festival

The Pig on the Pond Community Festival was held at Waterfront Park in Clermont Oct. 16-17. Team members interacted with residents, handed out prizes and shared information about McCoy's products and services all weekend long. Hosted by Project Scholars, proceeds from the festival help to fund 4-year scholarships for four South Lake County students.

Children’s Safety Village, 10th Annual Trunk or Treat

On Oct. 23, McCoy sponsored the 10th Annual Trunk or Treat event at Children’s Safety Village. Decked out in a “Frozen” theme, members of McCoy’s Marketing and HR teams passed out candy to local trick-or-treaters. Fun was had by all at this safe and free community event.

Bears Who Care, OktoBEARfest 5K Fun Run & Festival

McCoy sponsored Bears Who Care's OktoBEARfest 5K Fun Run & Festival at Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital on Oct. 24. Hamlin Branch and Marketing Department team members cheered on runners from their vendor booth and handed out prizes. The most popular prize was a McCoy teddy bear. The sold-out event had a record 529 participants and raised over $21,000 to support the organization's mission. Now, 5,000 teddy bears and books can be distributed to children affected by illness, injury, or financial hardship in 2022.

Community Sponsorships

On Oct. 10, McCoy sponsored the Ride/5K for RMHCCF in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida. This was in partnership with WFTV's 27 Community Connection. Additionally, McCoy made a donation to Basket Brigade Central Florida, which will help to feed over 37 families this Thanksgiving.

McCoy will also be the title sponsor for the BXI Boule Foundation’s 4th Annual Dr. David Robinson Golf Classic. This event supports Sigma Pi Phi, Beta Xi Boule BXI Foundation, and the Young Black Men of Excellence Leadership Program. The program provides content and life experiences that will inform, inspire, and provide academic scholarships.

Local students will benefit from McCoy’s sponsorships of Ocoee High School’s Athletics Program and the 4-H Exploding Bacon Robotics Club. McCoy also donated to the Disciples in Training Christmas Gifts for the Fatherless initiative and Children’s Miracle Network's Dance Marathon. Additionally, the Ocoee Branch team provided Halloween goodies to students in the Ocoee area.
